Here’s the first render of a possible new look for the Porsche 928, whose modern reworking is particularly favoured by head designer at Porsche, Michael Mauer. The future coupé in this attempt is certainly more original that a previous look.

The idea to develop an heir to the 928 is part of Porsche’s move to compete in a greater number of segments, such as the four seater coupé GT. The new 928, whose name is still undecided, will compete with the likes of the Bentley Continental GT and the Aston Martin DBS. In the meantime however, some technical and style elements have been revealed, including the fact that it will be three door coupé based on the Porsche Panamera, perhaps even adopting the engine of the Panamera.

Porsche might develop a new "928" (we say might because there is nothing sure for now, just rumors) that might debut in 2011.

The new model it is supposed to be a competitor for cars like BMW M6, Jaguar XK, Aston Martin DB9, Bentley Continental GT and Mercedes CL.

Since 1995, when the 928 GTS went out of production, Porsche didn’t have any other replacement for it. The new 928 will be inspired by the Panamera. The rear, off course will be inspired from the 911. It will be powered by a V8 engine or even a V10 might be under the hood of new 928.

As its name clearly suggests, the CHEPORSCHE is a 1984 Porsche 928 that has been outfitted with a blown 454 Chevy V8 engine. In true Texan style, the owner of the car has also raised the 928 several inches from the ground. But if you thought the exterior is tacky, wait until you get a look of the GT's cabin... In the extremely rare case that someone finds this heavily abused Porsche attractive, it is up for sale on eBay for $5,999.
